The Beloved (Jon Marsh ja vaihtelevasti muita, mm. Helena Marsh) on
omasta näkövinkkelistäni lähinnä yhden hitin ihme, ja tuo hitti
on siis Man Without Countryn äskettäin coveroima mahtava Sweet
Harmony. On kuitenkin ihan mahdollista, että The Beloved oli omana
aikanaan ihan merkittäväkin tekijä elektronisen popin ja dancen
kentällä; ainakin vuoden 1993 Conscience-kokopitkä on vahva
kokonaisuus, eikä todellakaan vain yhden hitin varasssa, vaikka
Sweet Harmony joukosta erottuukin. Tarjolla on niin rauhallisen
kohottavaa poppausta (etenkin You've Got Me Thinking) kuin
tummasävyisemmin tanssittavaa menoa, ja kaikki toimii Jon Marshin
sopivan omaleimaista tulkintaa myöten.
Sanoituspuolelta
löytyy rakkauden ja kiihkon lisäksi reilusti tsemppausta ja
elämänohjeita, mutta eihän siinä mitään. Siis ”Don't settle
